Getting Ready for Summer
Florida Fashion

Florida Fashion

Not to make anyone feel bad, but summer fashion starts early here - or never ends! I had an idea to show the essence of kids in Summer here. Jeans shorts and a tee top are all they need. Adults maybe some flip-flops.

This piece is 11” x 14” and can be had framed or unframed. I hope the coming Summer is loaded with fun for everyone.

This warm sunny view was at Eagle River in Wisconsin.  It was a glorious summer day, warm but not hot, blue sky - just perfect!  Just beyond the trees is Lynx Lake, one of 28 lakes in a chain along the Eagle River.  Acrylic on panel, 14" x 11" Unframed.

Acrylic on Panel 8" x 10" (Unframed) A beautiful, sunny afternoon at Locklear Park in Sarasota, Florida was too inviting not to paint. The peaceful reflections suggest a lazy day.

Work in Progress - Palms - Plein Air
Palms WIP JoAnn Golenia.jpg

I've been trying to do some plein air work.  I'm finding it difficult but think the effort is worthwhile.  This piece is not finished, it needs a few tweeks.  If you want, let me know what you think.

Kayak Waters

Oscar Scherer Park is just up the highway from me here in Florida.  It's an amazing place for kayaking, hiking, and canoeing.  This huge live oak tree is along one of the many hiking trails following South Creek which does not allow motorized boats.

Young Jean-Michel

Acrylic painting 8" x 10" Jean-Michel Basquiat rose to fame at such a young age.  Being so sensitive was a blessing and a curse.  This is an imagined image of him as a small child.

River Shadows   Acrylic on Panel   10" x 8"

This scene is from a beautiful afternoon on the New River in North Carolina, near Boone.  I could see the bottom of the river on the near shore glistening with different colored rocks.  There were tree shadows across the water further away.  Boulders provided a warm, sunny spot for birds.  River Shadows is a newly finished piece.

Fall at New River

While visiting around Boone, North Carolina, I was able to get some great pictures of several of the rivers in that area.  They are all so beautiful and each has its own personality.  The New River is pretty long and calm in most sections.  The mid fall leaves were reflecting in this calm area with a big leaf raft.
